The Elder Scrolls series has, since its launch nearly 30 years ago, become one of the most iconic, well-known, and replayed role-playing game series of all time. After the release of The Elder Scrolls I: Arena in 1994, Bethesda followed up with The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall in 1996, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in 2002, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in 2006, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011. Fans have long-awaited the arrival of the much-anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI, rumoured to be set in a new area, called Hammerfell. Alongside the five current instalments of the Elder Scrolls series have been numerous add-ons, expansion packs, and a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, Elder Scrolls Online, with a huge range of downloadable content (DLC) and additional chapters.

This year Skyrim celebrates its 10-year anniversary! The original release date was pegged for the stylised 11/11/11, so the anniversary falls on the 11th of November! In celebration, Bethesda are released a vamped-up version of the Skyrim game, aptly named Skyrim: The Anniversary Edition. The remastered game will feature improved graphics and gameplay alongside a whole host of additional features like armours, horses, quests, and characters.

Bethesda have also announced that an anniversary concert will take place on the launch date. The London Symphony Orchestra and the London Voices Choir will perform renditions of pieces from the Skyrim soundtrack, alongside tributes to the game’s atmospheric soundscapes and in-game songs. The concert will be held at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London and fans can access a live streaming on Bethesda’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.

To add an extra layer of excitement to this historic gaming event, Bethesda are also fielding for fan submissions to play some role in the concert that has been kept under wraps. Bethesda wants fans to submit short home-filmed clips between 15-30 seconds long. The clips can be about anything Skyrim-related, from cosplay to original fan artwork, fan-written stories, or any other tributes to 10 years of Skyrim. However, they do stipulate that these clips cannot have music in the background, suggesting that these may be used as part of a visual exhibition during the concert itself. Only time will tell! Skyrim’s anniversary falls in just two months’ time, and we couldn’t be more excited!
