Justin Gaethje Slams McGregor After UFC 257 Loss

Justin Gaethje has laid into Conor McGregor following the Irishman’s UFC 257 defeat, labelling the former two-division champion a “piece of shit”. McGregor was knocked out in dramatic fashion by Dustin Poirier last Saturday, but one man who hasn’t shed any tears since the massive upset is fellow 155lbs contender Gaethje. “Seeing a piece of sh*t put down, that was great,” he told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “There’s nothing better than seeing the bully dealt with.” Gaethje has had beef with McGregor in the past, so it’s no surprise to see the former World Series of Fighting champion go on the verbal attack in the aftermath of UFC 257. And after mocking relishing in McGregor’s defeat, Gaethje then turned his attention to SBG Coach John Cavanagh’s suggestion his star pupil should rematch Poirier for the title. I think he’s an elite fighter. What, do that and have him ranked at six? I think he’s better than Tony Ferguson. But to come out and say he wants a title shot next, a rematch versus Poirier, or his coach, they are (expletive) idiots!” “He’s been treated special over and over and he didn’t capitalise on this opportunity. That event was for him. That event was for him to win, and he wants to be Mr Humble now, but you know he would be an asshole if he won that fight!” It’s safe to say there’s no love lost here, at least from Justin Gaethje’s side. The bad blood stems from the Twitter back-and-forth the two have had over the years, with Gaethje accusing McGregor of ducking him. With both men coming off a loss and neither one booked to fight at the moment, this might be the perfect time to finally match the two of them up for a long-awaited, high-stakes bout.
